Currently there are 26 public universities and two state universities in the Czech Republic. The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CZU) is a public university (according to Act No. 111/1998 Coll. on universities). The CZU celebrated its 110th anniversary in 2016. Currently (2024) the university has about 20,000 students (almost 30% are international students), six faculties and one institute. At CZU, students can choose from over 170 accredited study programs at all levels, including 10 bachelor’s, 20 master’s, and 26 doctoral courses offered in English. Since 2007, the Czech University of Life Sciences has been a member of the Euroleague for Life Sciences.

The collaborating CZU’s faculty for this project is the Faculty of Environmental Sciences (FZP). FZP focuses on application of nature protection and landscape care into education, research, and management. The faculty currently offers accredited fields of study in Czech and English languages in bachelor’s, continuing master’s and doctoral degrees of study. Its graduates find employment in public, commercial, and academic sectors.

The Institute of Nature Conservation (PAN) is an institution of Division II (Biological Sciences) of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The Institute carries out research in the fields of ecology, conservation biology, and geology. The main task of the Institute of Nature Conservation is to create the scientific basis for modern nature conservation and environmental protection. The Institute’s work is centered around two integrating issues: “Prospects for protection of the natural heritage through sustainable development” and ”Protection and conservation of the natural (biological and geological) biodiversity of Poland”. Those issues are studied on species, population and ecosystem levels.
